Inspiration Behind Headphone Adapters
A while ago, I inherited a pair of popular brand on-ear headphones. The sound was great, but as an on-ear design, they weren’t ideal for long listening sessions. I wanted something more comfortable, like over-the-ear pads. A friend of mine had made a similar mod for his gaming headphones, so I decided to do the same with mine, given my background in mechanical engineering.
I’ve tried countless over-the-ear pads for comfort, durability, and practicality. Some were too bulky and squeezed my head, others didn’t last long. Eventually, I landed on the ear pads that worked: slim, comfortable, and tough enough for daily use. I 3D-scanned my headphones and over time refined the design of a pair of low-profile, durable adapters to make the conversion.
What started as a personal project turned out to be something others wanted too. I noticed many people with popular on-ear headphones were searching for similar upgrades. So I made adapters for other models too, helping fellow DIYers get more out of their gear with a simple yet effective solution. [March 10, 2025]
